January 31, 2008: Two leading marine seating specialists, Modell Møbler and TecnoSeat have entered into a strategic global sales alliance to better serve the worldwide fast ferry markets. The alliance gives clients a wider selection of passenger seats meeting international regulations

and specific marine conditions such as noncombustible, durability easy handling and economy

of space and weight.

Australia-based TecnoSeat, a division of UES Intl, designs and produces passenger seats for the marine,-road &-rail transports and commercial industries, and has a broad customer base throughout Asia and around the world.

The company is strongly involved in research and development, employing a full time experi­enced design team, and its stylish seating designs are now used by many of today’s leading fast ferry and passenger ship companies

For many years, Modell Møbler from Kristiansand, Norway, has demonstrated comprehensive expertise in the supply of quality marine furniture. It closely monitors the needs and trends of the market and collaborates with skilled architects and industrial designers to develop and manu­facture robust and comfortable marine furniture for tough seas.

The company produces a wide variety of passenger seats and is one of Europe’s leading provid­ers to the fast ferry market.

The alliance will expand the product portfolio of both companies, thus enhancing new sales opportunities in strategic fast ferry markets in the USA, Europe, Australia, Asia and the Far East. “Together, we can pursue business development activities, focused at creating a wider range of options and products, and global service for the demanding fast ferry market,” said Alex Morcos, Managing Director & Owner UES International Pty Ltd.

“The cooperation will provide an extensive range of marine seating options and an in-depth understanding of the right options for passenger comfort and safety requirements for modern high speed craft,” he said.

Both companies produce component and system-based seating solutions to passenger vessels. By combining joint sales business, the companies hope to offer great selection flex­ibility and low cost servicing, and create maximum synergy and speedy service to worldwide clients. Two technologies come together in this alliance - Modell-Møbler using high-tech foam and Tecnoseat using elastomeric membrane. Both companies also have the ability to access some of latest fabric technologies with chemistry that provide anti-stain, anti-odor, anti-static for the life of the fabric. “Although the marine seating market is highly competitive, there are still good opportunities for global expansion through an expanded product range and development of highly customized products,” said Frank Robertsen, director of marketing, Modell Møbler AS.
